The Spring Excel Academy Mom's Club Now Complete:

Thank You Simple Wellness Day Spa for your Generous Contributions!!!!!!
We now know that we have impacted 12 Teen Moms during the course of our Spring Moms Club. Two young ladies were tied for attending the most sessions. Miss N. Martin., Mother to a 1.5 year old boy earned an Express Yourself Spa Package from the amazing Simple Wellness Day Spa and Miss M. Montinez due to receive a Baby Girl in July, received a Mommie Makeover w/ Photo Session courtesy of Crystal MUA & A Thousand Logos Photography. Our goal in the coming weeks is to obtain feedback from each young lady. Already, the school Social Work and Nurse, Ms. Rooks and Ms. Lynch, express how excited the young ladies are when we come each week. They suggest that we improve our communication with the girls throughout the week by having a Private Social Media outlet through which to share updates and to dialogue. The school intends to transition into a trimester system, allowing us to hold 3 Mom's Club through the Academic Year! We are excited about forming a strong foundation at Excel Academy at Francis M. Wood High School and adopting an additional school in the near future. We may likely engage more volunteers to facilitate these groups as Fall 2016 approaches.

Thank You Dream Girls Mentoring Program!

The Dream Girls Mentoring Program Community Baby Shower went well. We are truly grateful for another opportunity to serve with this exceptional organization. Seventy-five individuals (75) were present; this included support people as well. Via The Perinatal Edutainment Project, TIActs! had the honor of hosting the "Save the Baby" Game on the topic of Safe Sleep, and an activity on Labor & Delivery concepts. In addition, we led a Breakout Session led by Johns Hopkins Nurse Researcher, Iye Kanu RN BSN, an amazing professional who is passionate about the issues of Intimate Partner Violence in the context of Perinatal Health and Safety. Several prizes were won throughout the day, all from our amazing supporters including: All is Well Inspire, Know Your Worth LLC, The Worth The Wait Revolution, Eclectic Goodies, Big Head Books LLC. We were also so honored at the presence of Perinatal Education & Cultural Competency Board Member & Community Outreach Colleague, Rose "Rosita" Conklin
The Perinatal Edutainment Evaluative Study:
"Perinatal Edutainment is like bringing Childbirth & Newborn Education to the comfort of your home--for you, your family and all your friends!"

The Community Baby Shower gave us a unique opportunity to recruit young moms for The Perinatal Edutainment Evaluative Study. We now have a list of  Summer/Fall Baby Events where we plan to teach educational activities & empower young families. Feel free to share referrals both for further Community Outreach and for engagement with affluent families.
