What is an AdvocateMUA?

An AdvocateMUA is a Certified Makeup Artist who offers his/her skills, creativity and artistic talent to promote the health, wellness and safety of women, their children and the communities that support them.

Some of our priority causes include Human Trafficking of Minors, Domestic Violence, Depression & other Self-Harm

We engage the AdvocateMUA as a professional who represents him or herself. He or She promotes his/her own brand within this forum. Thus, we essentially promote a collaboration of passionate artists who together use their art to advocate for others and create the awareness of significant issues.

The AdvocateMUA initiative is directly liked to The ModelAdvocate Project and most times our dedicated MUAs are ModelAdvocates as well, using their beauty and brand to advocate for others and make a true impact. Other Makeup Enthusiasts are invited to engage as volunteer models through ModelAdvocates and as Makeup Associates  who assist during Outreach Events.

Makeup Associate opportunities are available!

Venue: #TUM2014
And our AdvocateMUAs + ModelAdvocates
Feeling the hurt
Enduring the pain
Imagining the struggle
And wondering what really can I do?
100 Days have past and still
Progress is deferred
So I start to say
Then I do and I pray
And I join in to the desperate pleas
That my girls would come back to me
Please RED our LIPS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Women Model for Domestic Violence and Sex Trafficking Awareness.
Randallstown, Maryland – May 16, 2014 – Taiwo I. Ajao, MPH or “tia” of the Together Inspiration Acts Mommie Models Project, and Roxanne Fulton of Iconic Dreams Entertainment are partnering together to bring to our area an engaging advocacy and awareness event creatively delivered through make up and media. As you can imagine, there are many issues to address, most pertinent being Domestic Violence, and many more issues including Human Trafficking of our children, #BringBackOurGirls and the situation of hundreds of Mother's in Nigeria who currently exist in fear and turmoil due to the terrible status of their precious children.
According to data obtained by The Violence Policy Center, nine women each week are shot to death by their husband or intimate partner. Women ages twenty to twenty-four are at greatest risk of becoming victims of domestic violence. According to the organization Equality Now, at least 20.9 million adults and children are bought and sold worldwide into commercial sexual servitude and about 2 million children are exploited each year in the global commercial sex trade.  These are some of the statistics that are the driving force behind this event.
Model Advocates of all shapes, sizes and nationalities will be made over by The Mommie Models Glamm Team and Modeling Coaching will be provided by experienced Model and Actress GinRenee Boyer.  These models will engage in the experience and speak out for women who cannot speak for themselves. Roxanne Fulton, President of Iconic Dreams Entertainment will speak regarding domestic violence and how it directly affected her. This event will also be a part of her domestic violence documentary entitled “Hidden Darkness”.
There will also be key themes and support from area Nigerian businesses, creating a forum to discuss the massive kidnapping and capture of hundreds of young girls and the disdain of hundreds of Nigerian Mothers that has followed.
This advocacy and media event will take place Friday, May 16th from 12:30pm-4:30pm at Randallstown Community Center, 3505 Resource Drive. Randallstown, Maryland 21133.

March of Dimes Awards Grant to Baltimore Healthy Start in order to Improve the Health of Mothers and Babies in Targeted Baltimore City Communities

(Baltimore, MD. January 23, 2014) The March of Dimes Maryland National Capital Area Chapter has awarded a Community Grant to Baltimore Healthy Start to support a safe sleep initiative entitled the Sleep Sack Project. The project is aimed at underserved maternal and child health needs in Sandtown-Winchester, Rosemount and the Middle East communities. This program will improve our safe sleep efforts by enhancing our in-home presentation by an Outreach Specialist and providing HALO sleep sacks to clients. We intend to use this as a strategic way to promote health behavior change while equipping our clients with quality materials. Landro wrote in an 2013 article that Sleep Sacks remove the need to use loose bedding such as blankets and makes swaddling convenient. We believe that providing Sleep Sacks are the way forward and will improve safety measures.

This grant is one of many that the March of Dimes awards in pursuit of its mission to prevent birth defects and infant mortality.

"We will use the March of Dimes grant as seed money to meet our objective of providing mothers and babies with in-home education and sleep sacks," said Maxine Reed-Vance, Director of Clinical Affairs and Quality Assurance, for Baltimore Healthy Start. "We are grateful to those volunteers who support the March of Dimes by participation in events like March for Babies and who donate in other ways. That participation and those donations make this grant possible, " she said.

Baltimore Healthy Start is committed to reducing infant mortality in Baltimore City by utilizing a Life Course Perspective for improving the health and well-being of families through intensive home based services. In its 22 years of service BHS has served more than 16,000 pregnant and postpartum women.

The March of Dimes is a national voluntary health agency whose mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. Founded in 1938, the March of Dimes funds programs of research, community services, education, and advocacy to save babies and in 2003 launched a campaign to address the increasing rate of premature birth. For more information, visit the March of Dimes Web site at marchofdimes.com or its Spanish language Website at nacersano.org.
